When Smith Barney Inc. completed the installation of its new 1,900-position head-office trading facility in New York last month, ADP's FS Partner for Unix turned out to be an unexpected -- and big -- winner. Though the firm had at one point seriously considered deploying a single digital data distribution platform, delivering digital market data feeds, to all 1,900 of its traders, in the end ADP won the right to support some 600 equity traders.
