Private Sector Group Weighs Thin Versus Fat LEI Structure in Basel

Different opinions about the appropriate legal and governance structure for the legal entity identifier (LEI) system emerged at a meeting of private sector representatives in Basel this week, with some delegates expressing support for a multi-body structure and others favoring a simpler approach.

Members of the LEI Private Sector Preparatory Group (PSPG) of financial firms, vendors, consultants, academics and legal experts were invited by the Financial Stability Board (FSB) to Basel to present
