Option Exchanges Meet To Discuss Market Integration

Delegates from the five U.S. options exchanges and the Securities and Exchange Commission met in a closed session in Washington on Jan. 23 to discuss plans for linking the exchanges in the wake of the SEC's decision to allow multiple listing of options (TST, Jan.15).

The exchanges, split into two camps since the SEC ruling, were called to the meeting by SEC chairman Richard Breeden to establish a consensus on a market linkage system.

The exchange representatives were directed to continue
