Although Accenture is better known for its high-end technology and systems integration work, its less glamorous outsourcing practice makes up more than 40 percent of the organization’s revenue and employs 80,000 employees. Considering the size of the business, it is no surprise that it scooped first place as best outsourcing provider in this year’s Waters Rankings. Accenture offers services including finance and accounting, supply chain management, contact centers, and products for insurance, pharmaceuticals, airlines and other industries. Accenture has also built up a business offering remote infrastructure management services—a form of outsourcing service that avoids the transferring of staff and assets to Accenture. Most of the firm’s outsourcing work however, comes from managing and maintaining software applications for clients, with approximately half the workforce concentrated in this area. Accenture is divided into four main outsourcing areas: application outsourcing, infrastructure outsourcing, business process outsourcing, and bundled outsourcing.
1 Accenture (24.5%)
2 Infosys (22%)
3 IBM (19.8%)
