Waters Rankings 2015: Best Mobile Solutions Provider ─ Bloomberg Tradebook
Bloomberg Tradebook has improved workflow capabilities in recent months.
Bloomberg has championed the idea that investors want a broad view of what's driving financial markets at any given time, and as trading becomes increasingly electronic and global, they need this information even outside of normal working hours. It's with this idea in mind that Bloomberg Tradebook rolled out trading functionality for the iPad for institutional clients.
Bloomberg officials say that this was not as simple as creating a basic trading app ─ those ubiquitous Bloomberg terminals are not so easily boiled down onto a tablet screen. Users can now use the Bloomberg Anywhere iPad App to both monitor the global financial markets and implement trade ideas for futures, options, FX and equity securities.
According to the data giant, "Bloomberg Tradebook iPad functionality is connected to a client's compliance systems and offers order management connectivity and risk controls. The software is optimized for use on a desktop or tablet device, while its interface can display one security at a time, which means the design is uncomplicated and easy to navigate despite the smaller iPad screen."
In an interview with Waters, Sabrina Gagliotta, global head of trading and execution consulting at Bloomberg Tradebook, said that most recently the broker has worked to address workflow enhancements to make the trading architecture more seamless to interact with.
"One of the things that we try to address all the time are the challenges our clients have when they're trying to trade. So from a workflow perspective, what we really tried to address was that if a client is on his way in [to the office] or has to leave the office, what is the best way for him to continue doing what he needs to do from a trading perspective?" she explained. "L ooking ahead to 2016, we'll continue to integrate solutions from within the Bloomberg terminal because it addresses the workflow challenges that clients have. If they have a Bloomberg terminal, it's really easy for Tradebook to continue to embed functionality within their current workflow when they're already using the terminal."
