Thomson Reuters Buys Globe and Mail Mutual Fund Data Unit

Thomson Reuters has acquired the mutual fund data business of Canadian newspaper operator and fund information provider The Globe and Mail to expand the content available via its Lipper mutual fund data division and strengthen the vendor's content in its home Canadian market.

The deal was signed and closed yesterday, Thursday, May 31, for an undisclosed sum, officials say, and will see the vendor combine The Globe and Mail's database of information on more than 13,600 open-end, closed-end and
