Buy-Side Technology Awards 2025 winner’s interview: CompatibL

Alexander Sokol, chairman of CompatibL, discusses the reasons for the firm’s success in the Best buy-side AI platform category of the Buy-Side Technology Awards 2025.

• In addition to CompatibL’s BST Awards success, the firm also won Best AI technology provider in this year’s American Financial Technology Awards, thanks to its CompatibL AI offering. Can you explain what the platform does and how it was conceived? Did the impetus for its development come from within CompatibL or externally, from clients?
• What are the practical implications for capital markets firms using CompatibL’s artificial intelligence solution? How do firms stand to benefit from its use and, specifically, which business processes are enhanced by CompatibL AI?
• To what extent are the large language models underpinning CompatibL AI able to learn from and improve on the results they generate as they become more experienced? In other words, does the platform ‘get better’ as it matures?   
• What has been the uptake to date, and can you provide an example where a capital markets firm has been able to mitigate certain risks as a result of the new functionality?
