Best corporate actions data initiative—S&P Global Market Intelligence
Initiative overview—MCA Plus
Managed Corporate Actions Plus (MCA Plus) is a managed data service designed to address operational areas impacted by corporate actions beyond core event processing. It combines corporate actions expertise, validation workflows and structured datasets covering derivatives, security reference data changes, tax indicators, American/Global Depositary Receipt (ADR/GDR) fee notifications and publicly traded partnership, withholding requirements within a single, operational framework.
The premise
Corporate actions frequently create downstream operational requirements, typically managed through fragmented data sources, manual interpretation and separate workflows. MCA Plus was developed to address these gaps by bringing together specialized datasets and operational oversight into a single service. The premise was to help clients reduce complexity, improve consistency and manage corporate action-related impacts through one accountable framework.
MCA Plus was created to address operational processes that sit outside traditional corporate actions coverage but still require the same level of control, validation and accountability. By bringing these activities together within one service model, we have helped clients simplify workflows, improve governance and manage complex event-driven impacts more consistently.
Measurables
Since its launch in February 2026, MCA Plus has expanded across five service domains and supported increased client adoption. The service has broadened coverage of derivatives, tax indicators, security reference data changes, ADR/GDR fees and publicly traded partnership-withholding requirements, while reducing reliance on multiple providers and manual processes. Clients have been able to consolidate workflows, improve operational controls and gain visibility into event types that are often managed separately across the business.
Future objectives
Future enhancements to MCA Plus include extending coverage to additional corporate action-related areas such as fund events, proxy-related updates, structured securities and point-in-time history. Planned developments also include deeper workflow integration, multilingual support, enhanced reporting capabilities and intelligent event summarization. The service will continue expanding its managed service framework to address additional operational processes linked to corporate actions.
MCA Plus has given us visibility into event types that were previously spread across multiple teams and providers. Having structured data, validation and operational support within a single service has helped streamline processing and reduce the effort required to manage complex corporate action-related obligations.
Why S&P Global Market Intelligence won
S&P Global Market Intelligence’s second win in this year’s IMD & IRD Awards comes courtesy of its MCA Plus offering—a service designed to address the operational implications/obligations of corporate actions beyond the event itself. Rather than leaving clients to piece together specialist datasets and workflows, MCA Plus combines corporate actions expertise, validation and structured data covering derivatives, security reference data changes, tax indicators, ADR/GDR fees and publicly traded partnership-withholding requirements into a single, managed framework, effectively freeing up client personnel to focus on higher-value tasks.
The significance of the initiative, and one of the primary reasons S&P Global walks away with this category, is its focus on the fragmented and often costly and laborious processes that invariably sit around corporate actions. Since its unveiling in February 2026, MCA Plus has expanded its scope across five service domains, allowing clients to consolidate workflows and crucially gain visibility into event types that have traditionally been handled by disparate teams and providers. That combination of structured data and operational oversight provides clients with a single point of reference for a broader range of event-driven obligations.
Unsurprisingly, S&P Global has an eye on the future, with planned expansion into fund events, proxy-related updates, structured securities and point-in-time history. Deeper workflow integration, multilingual support, enhanced reporting and intelligent event summarization are also currently on the product road map. In bringing these disparate requirements together, MCA Plus demonstrates how managed corporate actions services can extend well beyond pure event processing, thus addressing the wider operational obligations created by corporate actions.
