UK-based data vendor Markit has named Edward Marhefka managing director and co-head of its Markit Securities Finance division in North America, based in New York, joining David Carruthers, who is co-head for the Securities Finance business in Europe and Asia.

Marhefka most recently ran his own consultancy, after leaving Morgan Stanley last year, where he spent almost 15 years, including as managing director of its securities lending and repo business, prior to which he held various roles at Lehman Brothers, Bank of America and Bankers Trust. In his new role, he reports to Brad Hunt, managing director of equities at Markit.
