Deasy will take up the post in December.

Deasy will join in December from oil giant British Petroleum (BP), where he is currently the firm's CIO, and group vice president responsible for global IT, procurement, and real estate.

He succeeds Guy Chiarello, JPMorgan Chase's former CIO, who left to become president at payments firm First Data. Current acting CIO, Mike Ashworth, will become Deasy's deputy.

Prior to BP and JPMorgan Chase, Deasy also held CIO roles at General Motors North America, Tyco International and Siemens Corporation Americas. In his new post, he will have responsibility for the bank's global technology systems and infrastructure.
