Open Source Technology within Financial Markets -- Webcast
This webinar is no longer available.
As cost pressures continue to dominate IT spend, departments are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to reduce workload while retaining a competitive edge. While banks used to differentiate on home-grown software, open source provides a way for development costs in both time and money to be significantly alleviated, while speeding up deployment. It is not without risks, however, such as managing compliance concerns, monitoring open-source components and putting a proper governance program in place to effectively integrate community-driven development into the bank's technology estate. This webinar aims to assess the risks and rewards of utilizing open source.
-- Using Open Source: What are the areas where open-source software is suitable for use within trading architectures?
-- Pros and Cons: What are the legal, operational and security risks involved with integrating open source, and how can they be managed? What are the benefits?
-- Compliance Control: How do you effectively track and manage the use of open-source software by developers, particularly with regards to licenses, and what do appropriate governance and compliance models look like?
-- Necessary Steps: What are the ways in which a wider roll-out of open-source adoption could be facilitated within the buy and sell sides?
Speakers:
Sanjay Sharma, chief risk officer, global arbitrage and trading, RBC CAPITAL MARKETS.
Clive McDaid, account director, financial services, BLACK DUCK SOFTWARE.
James Bevan, Linux/Unix engineering lead, NOMURA INTERNATIONAL.
