EMC Reshuffles VMWare Execs

EMC Corp has announced that several executives from the company and VMWare, in which it is a majority shareholder, will change roles.
Under the changes, Pat Gelsinger will become CEO at VMWare. Gelsinger was previously COO of Information Infrastructure Products and president at EMC, and will join the VMWare board of directors. Paul Maritz, VMWare's current CEO, will become the chief strategist at EMC in turn.
EMC chief financial officer David Goulden is also being elevated to COO and president at the company. Analysts and media reports have placed the move as a positioning for Goulden to take over from EMC CEO Joe Tucci upon his retirement.
