Levanon to Leave Tel Aviv Exchange by December

Levanon became the first female leader of the exchange in 2006.

Levanon's decision comes as the TASE has struggled with declining volumes over recent years, with an extension of trading hours and an aborted discussion over joining the MSCI Europe Index failing to stimulate more activity at the bourse.

She started at the TASE in 1986, joining as CIO after serving for 12 years in Shin Bet, the Israeli domestic security service. Her tenure at the top saw the exchange move to developed market status, become fully electronic and implement modern risk management mechanisms such as single-stock circuit breakers.

No replacement has yet been announced.
