Joel Coverdale will be based in Hong Kong.

Based in Hong Kong, Coverdale will be responsible for business development and operations in Asia, excluding Japan, but including China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore. He joined Axioma in January from BlackRock, where he had served in various risk and operations roles in Hong Kong, Tokyo and London since 2005.

He will work alongside Olivier d'Assier, managing director of the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region at Axioma.

"The appointment follows unprecedented growth we are seeing among institutional clients in Asia, particularly in the multi-asset space, for advanced and flexible tools that support portfolio construction and strategy optimization," said Assier in a release.

The vendor also announced two other recent appointments. Sam Ho has been promoted to head of equity solutions and clients services for APAC and Nathan Mackey, formerly of MSCI, joins as head of enterprise risk solutions and client services for APAC. They will report to d'Assier, according to the release.
