WatersTechnology obtained an internal memo written by global chief information officer Dana Deasy and CIB chief administrative officer (CAO) Sanoke Viswanathan announcing the move. Beer joined JPMorgan in 2014, serving as CIO for banking, which encompasses investment banking and treasury services.

Beer will report to Deasy and Viswanathan and join the CIB CAO management team and the global technology operating committee. Before joining JPMorgan, Beer spent 15 years at Anthem, a health insurance company.

"Our ability to deliver best-in-class technology to our clients is critical to the firm's success. In an organization as diverse as the corporate and investment bank (CIB), a strong leader who can navigate our rapidly changing environment is now more important than ever," the memo said.
