Mitchell Hutchins Asset Mgmt.Installs Unix-Based RS 6000s To Support MaxData System


PaineWebber Group Inc.'s Mitchell Hutchins Asset Management subsidiary is in the midst of switching to a Unix-based platform to support its portfolio management system from Maximum Data Corp. The new system will replace current host, Wang Laboratories Inc.'s VS hardware platform.

The new platform will eventually support two divisions: Mitchell Hutchins Investment Advisory (MHIA), a money management subsidiary handling more than $3 billion for private clients, and Mitchell Hutchins Institutional
