Contel IPC Puts Squeeze On NY Tel For Fiber Net

The contest between New York Telephone and Contel IPC to supply a private fiber optic network to the Securities Industry Automation Corp. has been prolonged by a decision to select a contractor through competitive procurement.
The Securities Industry Association's Telecommunications and Information Management Committee had been expected to award the project to Contel IPC outright. Instead, an RFP will be issued in early 1988 to which there will likely be only two respondents.
