Six Partners CME Europe for Tri-Party Collateral Platform

The platform will initally be open to a number of Swiss clients.

Through the partnership, users will be able to deposit collateral directly into a central counterparty clearinghouse (in this case, CME Clearing Europe) at a central securities depository (Six). The platform is designed to be compliant from the ground up with the European Market Infrastructure Regulation, and will initially be offered to a group of Swiss insurers before a wider roll out.

"This new partnership between CME Clearing Europe and Six Securities Services makes headway for clients aiming to mitigate the credit risk in connection with the transfer of large initial margin amounts," says Daniel Berner, head of portfolio management at Swiss Life AG,. "This is crucial for Swiss insurers who have to comply with strict regulatory rules for the safekeeping of policyholder funds."
