Sell-Side Technology Awards 2016: Best Cloud Provider to the Sell Side — BT
BT views its development roadmap as one that consists of Seven C’s: community, content, connectivity, compute, compliance, cybersecurity, and cost (of ownership).
With that degree of dominance, it’s tough when it comes to creating a fresh write-up to fully articulate BT’s hegemony, other than to say that the industry clearly feels that BT Radianz Cloud—which is now 15 years old—is the undisputed leader in what is an intensely competitive field.
But take a look at the University of Connecticut’s women’s basketball team: UConn has won nine of the last 15 NCAA titles, although the team’s strategy and its players have evolved during that time. The same is true of BT: It was at the vanguard in the early days of cloud computing, but it has evolved over the years to answer its clients’ rigorous demands.
BT views its development roadmap as one that consists of Seven C’s: community, content, connectivity, compute, compliance, cybersecurity, and cost (of ownership). To fully appreciate the breadth of its offering, it’s helpful to go through the Seven C’s one by one.
Community: In the last year, BT has added 169 customers and 2,511 service connections to the BT Radianz Cloud.
Content: BT’s content providers include brokers, exchanges, ECNs, MTFs, FX venues, information and analytics providers, order management firms, and clearing, settlement, depository and post-trade providers. In the last year, BT has added over 30 new providers and over 150 new applications.
Connectivity: Radianz Connect provides low-latency Layer 2 managed cross-connects and Layer 3 Radianz member-provider capabilities within and between over 20 key financial datacenters. The company most recently added five new datacenters to the Radianz footprint.
Compute: BT has focused on building out its virtualized compute infrastructure and has added access to BT Cloud Compute and public cloud compute services.
Compliance: From Dodd–Frank to the looming Mifid II regulations, BT has helped firms to handle new regulatory demands.
Cybersecurity: BT has built out its offering to support emerging regulatory standards, such as Crest Star and CBest regimes.
Cost of ownership: One of the best ways to articulate a firm’s success in this area is by the number of clients it routinely adds, and BT’s success in this area continues unabated.
Finally, Waters’ end-users named the BT Radianz Cloud as the best network provider in last year’s Waters Rankings—a ringing endorsement for the vendor.
