Farmland Co-Op Network Links Futures With Physical Inventory

Farmland Industries Inc. is developing a network that allows users to integrate trading of commodity futures with tracking of physical inventories. The Electronic Commodity System, which will deal deal only with petroleum in its initial incarnation, will be up and running by September.

Farmland is a regional agricultural cooperative that executes commodities transactions for its more than 2000 member/owners. The ECS system grew out of Farmland's belief that more profitable investing and hedging
