Two XML Fields Added To 4.2 Version, But Not To FIX Specification
FIX MESSAGES
XML has made a debut of sorts in the FIX 4.2 Protocol Release Notes and changes in the 4.2 draft release. The Session Level heading states: "Added two new fields, XmlDataLen and XmlData to the Standard Header in order to support the ability to send data in XML format (e.g. FIXML)." This is followed by an apparent caveat: "Note: FIXML itself is not yet part of the FIX specification."
