Nasdaq OMX has placed itself at the forefront of recent innovation in this sector, combining intelligent monitoring with pattern-recognition technologies and intuitive case-building capabilities. Its ability to transfer between single and multi-market surveillance protocols gives it a level of cross-asset firepower above the competition, while the Smarts Broker integration with FTEN gives it a pre- and at-trade capability, as well.

Recently, Nasdaq also extended the use of Smarts Broker to the buy side, through  a partnership with Sterling Trader, taking the first steps toward filling a concerning hole in buy-side operations, where firms have traditionally relied on brokers to supply tools that are increasingly vital to their day-to-day trading operations.
