Asia Awards 2022: Best market surveillance tool—Eventus
OVERVIEW
Eventus is a global provider of multi-asset trade surveillance and market risk solutions, helping its clients avoid situations where they might incur regulatory fines and/or reputational damage. Its cloud-based Validus platform enables clients to address evolving regulations and exchange rules on a global scale. By employing robotic process automation, the platform ensures that the most actionable alerts are put front and center. Then, through advanced analytics, anomaly detection, and procedural automation, those alerts can be immediately investigated. This machine learning (ML)-supported automation is complemented by hundreds of ready-to-use trade surveillance and risk-monitoring procedures. This results in potentially problematic market behavior being quickly detected and addressed.
“We have continued to grow aggressively over the past year, deepening our bench of regulatory experts, experienced market practitioners and highly skilled engineers to collaborate with clients on meeting their unique challenges globally. We’re working closely with Asia-Pacific market participants across asset classes, ensuring our Validus platform keeps getting better and responds to the requirements and anticipated developments in the various regulatory jurisdictions throughout the region.”
Travis Schwab, CEO, Eventus
THE SOLUTION
Eventus’ customizable Validus platform runs in real time and on a T+1 basis, leveraging a number of ready-to-use technology integrations and covering global exchanges and market centers. Validus is being used as a surveillance platform for several major crypto exchanges as it meets rigorous security requirements and can surveil billions of messages per day in real time. And it continues to evolve, with recent enhancements made to its analyst front-end, fixed-income capabilities, broker and exchange surveillance, transaction monitoring, and reporting.
WHAT’S TO COME
Eventus is improving Validus further, with cross-venue and product surveillance insights and analytics. Validus’ behavioral statistics will be expanded to help identify patterns and anomalies, while a new order book replay tool will allow clients to viewing and analyze the exact state of the order book at any point. New case-management and expanded robotic process automation features are planned, along with a complete refresh of Validus’ user interface and workflow.
WHY THEY WON
Expansion
Eventus has achieved a larger presence in Asia and Emea, added new market coverage in China and Australia, and gained its first clients in Australia and Canada.
Innovation
New features have been introduced to Validus to more efficiently facilitate surveillance across multiple brokers and exchanges. The firm has also introduced the Enhanced Insider Dealing procedure—which provides new insights based on news and market data—and a dedicated visual explorer feature to overlay trading activities with wider market sentiment and identify the potential for collusion and abuse.
Partnerships
Eventus formed a partnership with TRM Labs and Notabene to create Project Ten, which offers on-chain analytics and anti-money laundering, trade surveillance, and travel rule compliance.
