AFTAs 2022: Best new technology introduced over the last 12 months (infrastructure)—IPC Systems
Project: Connexus Alpha
Overview
Connexus Alpha is a cloud-edge application integrated with the Connexus Cloud platform, IPC’s flagship multi-cloud offering designed specifically for the financial services industry. Connexus Alpha is designed to enable hedge funds, funds of funds, proprietary trading firms, market-makers, broker-dealers and other market participants to connect to global liquidity venues through ultra-low-latency, point-to-point optical fiber connections.
What problem does it solve?
Connexus Alpha is the latest addition to IPC’s electronic trading portfolio. Launched in March 2022, it is designed to enable various types of capital markets firms in the US, Europe and Asia-Pacific to connect to global liquidity venues through ultra-low latency optimized point-to-point optical fiber connections.
“Connexus Alpha reinforces IPC’s industry leadership as we strive to ensure that market participants can trade seamlessly across the global financial markets. In the fast-paced world of electronic trading, having the lowest possible latency to connect to key liquidity venues is vital. Firms must have access to world-class infrastructure that gives them a competitive edge to succeed in the dynamic market, and we are proud to offer them those capabilities.”
Bob Santella, CEO, IPC
How does it solve the problem?
Connexus Alpha is designed to allow user-firms to “beat the market.” Its speed-to-market benefits enable firms to achieve their trading goals at an accelerated rate and provide them with a speed advantage when running complex trading strategies, while simultaneously reducing their costs.
Future developments
- Voice-enabling apps and natural language processing
- Infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) solutions—adding on-demand, managed IaaS and custom cloud solution capabilities
- Creating access options into the Connexus Cloud for customers in geographically difficult locations for standard connectivity or who are otherwise looking for alternatives to traditional network access
Why they won
Latency might not be in the news to the extent that it was a few years ago, but do not be fooled—it is as critical as ever to those capital markets firms that rely on executing large numbers of orders in the shortest possible timeframes. IPC’s Connexus Alpha caters specifically to those types of firms, providing them with ultra-low latency connections to ensure robust and reliable executions with minimal fuss, allowing them to focus on other mission-critical tasks.
