The solution

Genesis adds scale to complex portfolio customization with integrated portfolio modeling, construction, rebalancing, and trade order creation capabilities. Users can generate hundreds of thousands of orders in minutes while accommodating complex preferences and restrictions. Additionally, they can perform analytic workflows without needing to import data from external systems. Genesis also allows users to analyze, understand, and explain their exposure and the drivers of performance across thousands of accounts.

Genesis provides portfolio managers with business intelligence support across strategies, portfolios, and customer segments, allowing them to present and explain the impact of investment strategies to their investors. Portfolio customization, a strategy usually only available at large investment firms, is now accessible for asset and wealth managers, providing the front office with tools that increase productivity and deliver a more personalized investor experience. 

Recent milestones

Since 2020, Genesis has seen 120% year-on-year user adoption growth. By expanding its development team, SS&C Advent has added enhanced efficiencies to support complex portfolio construction at scale. Improvements include increased rebalancing speed of 1,000 portfolios in 35 seconds, tax optimization, and style drift monitoring. In minutes, portfolio managers can accommodate individual strategy preferences, identify outliers, observe trends, and recognize differences for a single client or across their entire book of business.

Future objectives

In the upcoming quarters, the Genesis team will work on expanding the platform’s tax workflows. This will include implementing loss harvesting functions, criteria-based tax loss harvesting, and improved wash sale workflows. Additionally, the team will focus on increasing order status visibility, providing more flexible multi-strategy modeling, and further developing the cloud data store to allow for greater interoperability and expansion of data within Genesis.
