Three V's Put the 'Big' in Big Data

"Big" implies size. When it comes to Big Data, that's misleading, according to Simon Waterer, senior solutions architect at IBM. Formerly an employee at cluster and grid management software vendor Platform Computing, which was purchased in January by IBM, Waterer made his case during a presentation, titled The Emergence of Data and Compute Intensive Workloads, at WatersTechnology’s Big Data Online Summit.

Big Data is not all about data volume. A dataset need not be hundreds of terabytes in size
