In a move calculated to link its buy- and sell-side product strategies, Sungard Data Systems announced that it would buy Herzilaya, Israel-based Oshap Technologies, the parent company of both software publisher Decalog as well as middleware provider Mint Technologies. Pending regulatory approval both in the US and Israel, the deal was expected to close by the end of the third quarter. The stock was appraised at $210 million (March 15, 1999).
