What Brownian motion means to me

When I was 15, my physics teacher tried to explain the concept of randomness to the class. He did this by way of an experiment that sought to replicate Robert Brown’s work on Microscopical Observations carried out in the summer of 1827. Why we had to peer endlessly down our microscopes and observe small pollen particles suspended in a fluid being bombarded by smaller, invisible objects and producing a random walk is beyond me. I would have believed my physics teacher had he chosen to write
