In 1999, Bob Sauvageau, senior vice president and chief technology officer of American Century, oversaw the development of American Century’s own Java-based portfolio management system, Apex. Now, Rich Wilkie joined the team as vice president of investment management technology functions, and with Sauvageau he brought Apex to the palm of the portfolio managers’ hands, literally. The "palm of the hand" was the Palm Pilot VII, the delivery mode of choice for the new system, Apex Lite.
