NEW YORK--Thomson Financial announced plans to sell a slew (though not all) of its publications last week, including American Banker, Bond Buyer and Nelsons. The divestiture, which Thomson plans to complete before the end of the year, will allow the firm to focus its energies on key market verticals.

The buy side is one of the primary verticals. In fact, efforts to build an integrated desktop solution for portfolio managers is among Thomson's priorities, says president Patrick Tierney. Thomson
