Federated Investors of Pittsburgh shelved its shrink-wrapped software, Fedports nearly a year after launching it. The firm quietly ceased production of the software soon after Arthur Cherry was hired as the new president of Federated Services, the asset manager's technology and operations subsidiary. The business unit that was scaled back was known as Advanced Information Systems, and it had sold two licenses for Fedports by the time Cherry decided to phase out the sales effort
