SEC Takes Multi-faceted Approach on Market Reform

Aside from proposed rules concerning flash orders and dark pools of liquidity, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is also planning to examine risk controls for provisioning of sponsored access to markets, alternative trading system rules and high-frequency trading, says SEC chair Mary Schapiro. She spoke to attendees of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association's (Sifma's) annual meeting in New York on Oct. 27.
