Goldman, Sachs Joins First Call: Sign-Up Marks Compromise

Goldman, Sachs & Co.'s decision to join the First Call equity research network after three years of dithering marks a victory for the service, which now delivers research from 20 top-ranking Wall Street firms.

But it also represents a concession by First Call. In order to get Goldman on its books, First Call waived an exclusivity clause that would have prevented the securities firm from distributing its research on other systems. Goldman will continue to operate its own Research Portable system
