GAO To Feds: Get Tough On Treasuries Pricing Information


The only surprise surrounding the final release of the General Accounting Office's report on the U.S. government securities market was that it came out at all.

The report -- due out last March and now titled "U.S. Government Securities: More Transaction Information and Investor Protection Measures Are Needed" -- recommends legislation to ensure that transaction information from screen brokers "be available on a real-time basis to those willing to pay appropriate fees."
