First Boston Plans Firmwide Install Of Newsedge

First Boston Corp. is piloting Desktop Data Inc.'s NewsEDGE PC- and workstation-based newswire management system and will likely install the system firmwide in the near future. The installation would give NewsEDGE a potential user community at First Boston of about 900 traders, sales staff and brokers in New York and at the firm's branch offices.

First Boston vice president William Rothfarb, who is heading the project, declines to comment except to confirm that the firm is a user of NewsEDGE. But
