Hongkong Bank Signs Knight-Ridder For 160 Positions, Displacing Telerate

Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corp. (HSBC) has agreed to make Knight-Ridder one of its two primary information providers in Hong Kong. As part of a market data strategy rethink that the bank expects will slash its information costs, HSBC in Hong Kong will concentrate its data usage on two main sources--Knight-Ridder and Reuters--substantially reducing its reliance on Dow Jones Telerate data. The bank's Tokyo and Sydney operations are contemplating a similar step.
