The current situation with trading room turrets harks back to one of the best bits in the classic film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, where an old man is about to be tossed on to a heap of bodies in response to Eric Idle’s cry, "Bring out yer dead!"

The old man in the bit and the supporters of the turret aren’t quite dead yet--they are protesting being killed off before their time, and they have a point. In fact, the Open Platform by a BT Syntegra representative (see page 8) makes the case
