Data Exchange, Salomon Launch Equities Order-Routing System

Data Exchange Inc. has launched an order-routing facility that allows institutional users of Data Exchange's portfolio- management system to send equity orders via Salomon Brothers Inc. to the New York Stock Exchange's SuperDot system for execution. The system -- known as DX/Trading System -- appears to be aimed at emulating the success of Jefferies & Co.'s QUANTitative EXecution (Quantex) system, which sources say is now racking up daily volumes of more than a million shares.
