CME Taps Platts Steel Prices
CME Group is using physical prices from commodities data provider Platts as the basis for three industrial steel futures contracts—covering scrap, billet and hot-rolled coil, bringing the number of CME contracts cleared and settled against Platts prices to around 450. Platts publishes the prices in its Platts Steel Markets Daily online and print publication, via its real-time Platts Metals Alert, and its Platts Market Data end-of-day feed.
