ViaNexus aims to bring data entitlement control to MCP, agentic AI

The startup believes that Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol marks a major step forward for agentic AI, but the market data industry has its own complexities that haven’t been addressed—yet.

To describe how the Model Context Protocol should work in the capital markets, Tim Baker likes to draw parallels with “The Matrix,” the 1999 cyberpunk film.

In it, a character named “Trinity” needs to be quickly equipped with the knowledge to pilot a military helicopter. She calls an “operator” from her cellphone, who instantly “downloads” Trinity—who had not previously flown a helicopter—with everything she needs to know to maneuver the aircraft.
