LSEG caps free prompts as it moves to increase AI revenues

New AI tools were the main focus of the exchange group’s mid-year progress update.

The London Stock Exchange has begun introducing limits on how much of its AI functionality customers can use for free, as the exchange looks to turn a year of AI product launches into a new revenue line.

LSEG’s AI-powered search tool for its Workspace terminal became generally available to all customers in July and reached 17,000 active users by the time of the exchange’s H1 results call on Thursday. It is bundled into customers’ existing subscriptions, but only up to a point. 

These new products

Only users who have a paid subscription or are part of a corporate subscription are able to print or copy content.
