GE Wins Euroquote Contract; Quotron To Rethink European Strategy?

A consortium headed by General Electric Information Services, a U.S. network services provider, has won the contract to build a pan-European quote distribution system for Euroquote S.A., a joint venture of the European Community's 12 major stock exchanges. GE's success comes at the expense of Citicorp's Quotron Systems Inc. subsidiary, leader of a rival consortium, prompting some to question the quote vendor's continued presence in Europe.
