In Asia, each country has its own unique set of regulations, so it is difficult for firms to set up shop on their own without a detailed understanding of local regulation, said Gautam Verma, an executive in Thomson Reuters' Enterprise Solutions business. "When it comes to the sell side versus the buy side, buy-side firms are a lot more open to managed services─for example, US hedge funds who are looking to Asia for a better return on investment," Verma said.
