Robotics, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and blockchain—from a capital markets perspective, these were the big four topics of the annual Sibos conference this year, hosted for the second time in Toronto. The use-cases for these technologies stretched across the middle and back offices, where some larger banks debated the benefits of robotic process automation (RPA) when it came to legacy architecture, through to the applications of machine learning and cognitive technology in fraud
