CHICAGO--Dow Jones Newswires and Oster Communications are creating a global commodity news company, called OsterDowJones Commodity News.

The two news organizations also plan to form a jointly owned news company covering energy markets.

Dow Jones and Oster are merging their commodity news staff and distribution channels. The new company will begin operating on January 1. The new energy joint venture is scheduled to launch in the spring of 2002.
