Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) contracted for 1,300 to 1,400 Bridge Information Systems' Bridgestation 6.11 equities data terminals. DLJ planned to install the Bridge stations in its New York offices, replacing Reuters' Quotron 4.1.

Five years ago

McGraw-Hill's J.J. Kenny struck distribution deals for its municipal bond data with Knight-Ridder, Reuters and Telerate. All three following suit behind Bloomberg on the list of third parties distributing Kenny's data, who inked an agreement a year prior.

Ten years ago

Thomson Corp. initiated talks to buy MMS, an acquisition that would give Thomson a virtual lock on real-time debt market analysis (in tandem with Thomson's Technical Data). MMS, however, caught in a bidding war, was eventually picked up by McGraw-Hill for $80 million in Feb. 1989.
