CUSIP Threatens Lawsuit Against ANNA

The CUSIP Service Bureau has threatened the Association of National Numbering Agencies with legal action if it signs any agreement to make ISIN numbers available on a free or cost recovery-only basis, industry sources say.

One source says CSB believes that any such agreement would infringe contracts previously in place between ANNA and its members, which it believes recognize the right of ANNA members—including CSB—to license their databases of identifiers on a commercial basis.
