CME Tests FIX for Market Data

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange will complete next month a proof of concept project which adapts the FIX (Financial Information Exchange) protocol for use as a market data distribution standard.

FIX has contained support for market data for some time and is a very flexible format for changing data or adding new data. However, until now, it has been considered unsuitable as a protocol for distributing derivatives market data because the message size has simply been too large to be efficient.
