S&P Plans To Launch News Service To Compete With Dow Jones

Sources at Standard & Poor's Corp. and at financial services companies in New York confirm that S&P is about to launch a news service in direct competition with the Dow Jones News Service known as the Broadtape. Called the S&P News Service, the as yet unannounced service would deliver real-time news to the retail brokerage community. Sources say Mel Beiser is executive editor of the service.
