DJ Newswires Makes High-Level Changes
ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT
JERSEY CITY, N.J.--Paul Ingrassia, president of Dow Jones Newswires, announced several high-level management changes and retirements, including the retirement of Tim Turner, vice president and general manager of Dow Jones Newswires, at the end of the year.
Turner currently has oversight for Newswires’ global business operations and for international sales and marketing. He will remain as a consultant to Dow Jones through November 2002 focusing on relationships with Moneyline, Newsedge and other vendor/customers.
Ken Herts will join Newswires as vice president and general manager, replacing Turner. He will focus on developing new sources of revenues for Newswires and overseeing the budgeting process. He also will be involved in business and product development, business analysis, technology strategy and the relationships with various partners. From 1998 until June 2001, he was publisher of The Wall Street Journal Europe. Prior to that, he was senior vice president, technical development of Dow Jones Telerate.
Dick Levine, currently vice president and managing editor of Dow Jones Newswires, has been appointed vice president and executive editor of Dow Jones Newswires. He will continue to oversee Newswires’ global news operations and will be more involved in broad business issues. Levine has worked with Paul Ingrassia and other managers on product development, budgeting and administration as well as the overall strategic direction of Newswires.
Levine took on his current position in 1995. Prior to that, he served as vice president and managing editor of the Dow Jones Information Services segment from 1992 to 1995, and as vice president and editorial director of Information Services from 1989 to 1992.
Turner joined Dow Jones in 1980 from IBM. He was part of a group that founded the Information Services Group, the forerunner of Dow Jones Electronic Publishing. In 1989, he was named vice president of Dow Jones Information Services responsible for marketing and selling not only News/Retrieval but also the company’s domestic newswires. From 1990 through 1992, he held the additional post of vice president of Dow Jones Telerate and guided the sales and marketing of its Americas group. He was appointed vice president and general manager of Dow Jones Financial News Services in 1992.
